Website Updates

    Hi all,
A couple of updates regarding the transition to the new Website:

    – 25 people have created accounts so far. Thanks! There are a couple of accounts that I was unable to verify as no callsign was provided and I couldn’t find the email address in the database. Those users have been notified, and unless I hear back with a callsign in the next week or so, those accounts will be deleted.

    – For those who tried to renew their membership with PayPal only to find it didn’t work, worry not, the Store page has been fixed, and PayPal works again.

    – I highly encourage everyone to subscribe to any or all of our three forums. From any forum’s page, click the “Subscribe” button at the top (be sure you’re logged in) to receive an email whenever a new topic is posted. Charlie and I hope to slowly move from the Google Group to the forums.

    – Any club officials or committee chairs who need to be able to edit certain pages will need to request access from me. John WB6FRZ kindly volunteered to test this system for me, and I believe that we got the issues ironed out. Officials will be able to edit only their specific page, and that page will only be editable by the appropriate official.

If there are any questions, issues, or comments that arise, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Thanks for your patience as we go through this transition!

    Hi Sutter,
I really like the new look! Thanks for your work.

On login, after you enter your info, it gives you the same screen as before login, so unless one just forges ahead, it can be uncertain as to whether one is really logged in. How about after login a welcome message acknowledging login.

    Thanks,
    Jack, K6ROW

    Hi Jack,
An excellent point. I’ve changed the code so that the button on the far right of the menu now says “Login” when a user is not logged in and “Welcome [Your Callsign]” when a user is logged in.

Do you think this solves the problem sufficiently?

    Thanks!

When you subscribe to the forums, is it possible to request a digest like some other discussion boards do? That combines all submissions into a digest for all those submitted in one day or one week, which ever I select. It’s not an issue at this point, but when discussion boards become busy it prevents filling your mailbox with email for each individual update to the forum.

    Hi Lewis,
When you subscribe to a whole forum (Activities, Public Service, etc.), you will receive an email for each new topic, but not for replies to topics. You must subscribe to topics individually to get emails for each new message.

Hopefully this will keep the email volume down.
