Our Club

SCRA’s goal is to get more people interested in Amateur Radio, electronics tech, and related subjects. In support of this, we have monthly meetings where we share interesting topics to help our members stay up-to-date with the latest in the field. We also offer communication support to races and fundraising rides, help with neighborhood communication during emergencies, and teach folks how to be ready for disasters. We maintain a popular 2m FM repeater, as well as DMR and YSF repeaters, for the use of all radio amateurs.

Membership

SCRA membership is open to anyone interested in amateur radio, licensed or not. Membership dues are $20 per year for an individual, with special discounts for families and hams under 24. Membership benefits include:

Community Service

  • Preparing ourselves and the community for disasters large and small.

Field Day

Field Day is one of the SCRA’s grandest occasions of the year. It is a national event where ham radio operators spend 24 hours trying to contact as many other ham radio operators as possible. We take it as an opportunity to simulate disaster communications by relying on generators and solar power and operating in a park from trailers and tents.

Field Day occurs on the fourth full weekend in June. We set up in a city park and welcome the public. (We also use this as a great opportunity for a picnic!)
