Greetings John,
I recently purchased one of your antennas and was considering trying it out soon. Since I will be carrying the antenna out to hopefully a good location I would like to get your opinion/recommendation for the type of coax that would work with this antenna. Since I’ll probably be hiking I was thinking that I would want coax that’s light and flexible. I’m pretty sure the cable length would be somewhere between 15 and 25 feet. Lots of opinions online but do you think RG8X would work for this length coax or maybe RG58?
Thanks,
Sean

Hi Sean,
I recommend RG8X for your application. It is slightly heavier than RG58 and a whole lot lighter than RG8. The loss of 25 feet of RG8X on 2m is about 1 dB, or approximately 20% of the power into the cable. A lesser length of cable will attenuate the signal through it even less.
