Program
Laura Peticolas KN6FXN, associate director of EdEon at Sonoma State, will give a presentation on CubeSats. Dr. Laura Peticolas is Co-Director of EdEon STEM Learning at Sonoma State University, where she works to engage students and teachers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Computing (STEM+C). Her goal is to involve all students in STEM+C participatory science and engineering experiences that simulate how work is done by scientists and engineers. In 2000, Dr. Peticolas received her PhD in Physics at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks, studying the northern lights. At the University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), she continued her scientific research pursuits, while also engaging in education and outreach efforts. In 2010, she became a Senior Fellow at the Space Sciences Laboratory at UC Berkeley, and Director of Multiverse, the Space Sciences Laboratory’s education group. In 2017, she moved to Sonoma State University in order to further her Heliophysics research and STEM+C education work with rural science teachers and their students, undergraduate students in physics, engineering, mathematics, and computer science, and the scientifically-engaged public. She is passionate about providing additional and relevant tools to students so they can thrive in a technological world, while freely expressing their unique ways of being.
We will be distributing Ed Fong antennas at this meeting! If you participated in our group buy, please plan to attend so you can pick up your order! Otherwise, you may make alternative arrangements by emailing our Treasurer, Fred AE6SF at treasurer@sonomacountyradioamateurs.com.
